The Vascular Institute of Chattanooga will host "Faces of PAD & Related Issues: An Advanced Practice Providers Symposium" for physicians and advanced practice providers on Friday, October 19, and Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Embassy Suites by Hilton. Christopher LeSar, MD, vascular surgeon, is the program director. A maximum of 10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are available for attendees.
The cost to attend the "Faces of PAD & Related Issues: An Advanced Practice Providers Symposium" is $199 through Sept. 15. Registration is $249 after early registration. To register for the symposium, visit facesofpad.com or email Kevin Lusk at email@example.com.
The symposium is appropriate for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and radiology techs involved in the care of vascular patients.
The purpose of the symposium is to provide resources to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care providers treating patients with vascular issues of the lower limbs and bringing awareness to the regional amputation problem. The southeastern part of the United States has the highest amputation rates in the country, many of these surgeries could be prevented with proper education and alternative treatment plans, resulting in patients having better health, a more active lifestyle, and longer life.
“Time is critical in getting patients to the specialists from diagnosis to treatment,” Dr. LeSar said. “Many weeks can pass by before being seen by a specialist. This symposium will help providers better be able to diagnose and help better treat them with the hope of preventing unnecessary amputations.”
Symposium topics include Peripheral Artery Disease and the Road to Amputation; What All Primary Care Providers Need to Know about PAD; Clarifying the Spectrum of PAS, the FLOW Concept; Wounds, Ulcers, Sores and non-Healing; Venous Disease: the Forgotten Side of the Circulatory System; The Many Faces of Atherosclerosis & Vascular Disease; Cardiovascular Care: The Big Picture; Advanced Therapies in Foot Care; Back to the Future: Knowing Now What You Will Discover Then; and “Critical Limb Ischemia: A Collaborative Approach to Patient Care.”
